Honoring a month salary to Health Workers

In honor of the frontline doctors, nurses and hospital staff at Waibargi Hospital, Yangon, Irrawaddy Foundation donated a month worth of salary for April. In order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading, these healthcare workers have been working unflaggingly and have recovered a total of 75 COVID-19 patients, including two patients who are being closely monitored.

On 21st April 2020, the Ayeyarwady Foundation, under the assistance of U Zaw Zaw, attended the event to meet and discuss with Professor Dr. Sabai Phyu and Dr. Aye Aye Aung, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital , along with specialists, doctors, nurses, other health workers and general staff, totaling 120 of healthcare workers. Total of 37.5 million kyats were donated to 227 people in that ceremony or event. In addition to 50 million Kyat donated on 18th March 2020, Ayeyarwady Foundation had also donated 20 million Kyat on 18th April 2020 to buy medical supplies for further protection and safety of Waibargi Hospital, Yangon sum up to be 107.5 million kyats.

Furthermore, the Ayeyarwady Foundation also donated 500 million kyats to the Central Health Committee for all doctors, nurses, health workers working all over the country with COVID -19. Additional preventive care packages were donated to the South Okkalapa and Waibargi hospitals regarding COVID -19 on Sunday,19th April 2020.  The Ayeyarwady Foundation Executive Director Dr Zaw Wai Soe and the officials met with Dr. Win Maw Oo and the hospital’s chief medical officer at the South Okkalapa Specialist Hospital on 17th April 2020 and donated 30 million kyats for any required places in need.  The Ayeyarwady Foundation also arrange daily food delivery from the Novotel Hotel, Yangon.  In addition, 200 million kyats were donated to the Waibargi Hospital for any required usage.  Last but not least, the Ayeyarwady Foundation has already donated 50 million kyats since the occurrence of COVID -19 to Waibargi Hospital.
